Lenten purple banner

There is deep symbolism in the color purple. It can represent deep suffering or penitence. This is why it is used in the season of Lent- at a time when we are asked to look toward our sins. This is not always easy.

Purple has so many different shades and attributes as a color- it can look very different at times- just as our own suffering. One never knows what another is confronting inside.

This purple banner has long pieces that drawn from the top of the banner downward. Like rays from the sun, yet they are the color of suffering. This paradox becomes evident in this complex banner.

Here are some photos of the process of creating. Please reach out if you’d like to commission a set of these for your church.

The size of the pictured banners is 23 inches by 86 inches.
