I met Amy Violette when I was an administrator at First Baptist Church of Decatur. She arrived as an intern to the then-pastor Julie Pennington Russell. She was a fast talking, confident, preaching woman of God who wore cowboy boots through the heat of the summer. We became fast friends. She asked good questions and listened deeply.
I am so happy that she has been ordained to the ministry. She now lives in Nashville and will soon start a church to serve people who have been excluded and harmed by church and closed theology. This is so needed in the world.
